Very strongly inspired by the M24 from the manufacturer Remington, is one of the sniper rifles used by the US Army. It is the most used currently in this army, not only for its reliability, but also for its high accuracy and inexpensive ammunition. It will soon be replaced by semi-automatic rifles, faster in shooting action but less precise.
Its useful range is given for 800 meters, but shots from greater distances were recorded, including one in Iraq at a record range of 1250 meters. The M24, was commissioned in 1988. The weapon is based on a Remington 700 rifle (the same as the Marines' M40).
The M24A1 is a breech rifle, with a so-called "linear" reloading (like the German 98K for example, while the A2 and A3 versions (more modern which can accommodate optical equipment such as laser pointers) use a magazine under the weapon.
